YANA Study abroad program

for children raised in welfare homes.

Chaeyoen was raised at Dongmyung Children’s Center and came to the United States as a YSAP student in 2018.

She started attending Rutgers University in Fall 2023, majoring in Psychology.

The first time I stepped inside an American school as a foreign student, everything was foreign to me.

Language barriers, cultural differences, and the diversity of students were overwhelming.

I felt lonely and frustrated because I couldn’t express myself in English to fit in.

This experience as a foreigner was far more difficult than I expected.

However, the YANA ministry always sends me a message of “You Are Not Alone” so that I can overcome this barrier and be able to graduate High school and start a new page of my life at University.

I always want to give back the love and support that the YANA ministry gave me. Therefore, I want to help other people by majoring in Psychology at Rutgers-New Brunswick. I want to learn the minds and behaviors of others because I always want to comfort others by listening to them and being with them to get through it.

YANA gave me the opportunity to study abroad in America and it made me known how useful I am and that I am not alone. Therefore, I want to let other people know that “You Are Not Alone”.

Please support Chaeyeon so that She can fly high into her dreams.

2023 FALL - 2024 SPRING

* Disclaimer

The individual fundraising goal for the YANA Study Abroad Program is based on the estimated cost of attendance calculated by their attending college. This includes tuition & fees, books & supplies, room & board, health insurance, transportation, and personal expenses. Please understand that as required by IRS regulations, any tax-deductible donation is made to the charitable organization (YANA Ministry Inc.) and not the individual (student) — otherwise it is a non-deductible gift and should be given directly to the student. For students qualified for and participating in our YANA Study Abroad Program, the IRS allows donors to state a preference of how their contribution is used and request that the gift support a particular student — and it allows the charitable organization (YANA Ministry Inc.) to fully consider that request as long as the donor understands and acknowledges for charitably given tax-deductible gifts that the ultimate authority regarding the disposition of your donation is at the discretion of YANA Ministry Inc. By using this online form, or other method described above, you are acknowledging and agree to those IRS guidelines.
