Vacation Bible School 2025 — When Love Crosses Borders

Updated: 5 days ago

Children and volunteers share a joyful moment during YANA’s So Much Potential mission program.

"No one could forget the sparkle in the children’s eyes
as they reached out shyly to hold their hands." —Kate Yang

For three months, young adults from across the United States gathered.

What began as a group of strangers soon became a family — the YANA Family.

Through worship, sharing, and preparation, we learned one simple truth:
“Serving begins with a prepared heart.”

When summer came, our long-awaited journey began —
from the U.S. to Korea, and then to Indonesia —
following the path of love that God had already prepared.

The first destination was SungNam Orphanage and Dongmyeong Welfare Center.
The sound of laughter filled the playground as the YANA team played with the children. We sang, created, and laughed together.
Though our time together was brief, something changed in the children’s eyes.
A spark of realization —
“Someone remembers me.” And that simple truth began to warm the world.

The next journey led us to Jakarta, Indonesia.

There stood Rumah Kita Orphanage, meaning “Our Home.”
Once an unsafe and broken building, it had been beautifully renovated through YANA’s support after our visit the past summer.
Now, it is a safe and happy home filled with laughter brighter than freshly painted walls.

Then came Boaz House, a place the YANA team visited for the very first time.
Different languages, cultures, and skin colors didn’t matter —
within a single day, we became brothers and sisters. We ate together, worshiped together,
and held each other’s hands in prayer.
No one could forget the sparkle in the children’s eyes
as they reached out shyly to hold their hands.

When it was time to say goodbye,
no one was ready.
The children whispered through tears,
“Don’t forget us.”
“Promise you’ll come back.” Tears fell as hands of different colors wiped each other’s faces.
“Of course. We’ll see you again.”
That promise wasn’t just words —
it was a covenant of love written by God Himself.

Everyone knew deep down —
this was not the end, but the beginning of something new.

That summer, we learned that serving is not about what we give,
but about the love God shares through us.

Though the Vacation Bible School has ended, the story continues.
The children of Rumah Kita now dream in their new rooms.
The children in Korea wait for the day they’ll meet again.
And YANA is already preparing for next summer’s journey.

This is the boundless power of love we carry within us.

We’re better together.
Because when love crosses borders,
it rebuilds homes, hearts, and hope.
